Martin Brierley
Treasurer
I originally joined Rotary as a founder member of the Parley Rotary Club in 2011. Rotary seemed to be the perfect organisation to join to give something back to society - helping those in need both locally and further afield - through its worldwide network of local Clubs and the global charity Rotary Foundation.
Within Rotary I have also found many new friends and very much enjoyed the social life on offer.
I served Parley Rotary as their President and Treasurer in the years before the Club merged with the Rotary Club of Ferndown in 2019.
After a long career in IT, specialising in enterprise management systems, Martin took early retirement in 2017 to enjoy a much-needed change to the work-life balance and, especially, to escape the commute along the M27.
I now use my IT skills to support the Ferndown and Parley Rotary Club and its charity work in my role as Treasurer – there’s nothing quite like a good spreadsheet – and helping to look after the website.
When not busy with Rotary activities, I enjoy travelling with my wife, Sally, travel & wildlife photography, reading crime novels, learning to play golf badly and avoiding walking the family dog.
I also manage to spare some time to support another local charity, Tool Aid Ringwood, learning another skill - servicing & repairing sewing machines destined for use, mostly, in Africa.
