Golf Day 2022

Introduction

The Ferndown & Parley Rotary Club Golf Day was once again held at Dudsbury Golf Club on Wednesday 1st June 2022.  Over the years the day has raised around £118,000 for local good causes.

This year the worthy recipient was Gully’s Place a charity caring for life limited children and their families.  This is a small charity in need of funds to continue their excellent work.

On the Course

We were blessed with a lovely day albeit a bit chilly to start.  However as the sun rose so the day warmed up and the golfers began their quest for the prizes.  The format was teams of four with the best two Stableford scores to count.

At the halfway house the golfers were greeted by the three lovelies and some well earned refreshments

The Community Benefit

The golf day has been sponsored for many years by the Hendy Motor Group (Norman Hendy was a founder member of the Ferndown Rotary Club) and his son Paul, now Managing Director of Hendy Group, presented prizes to the winning teams and also a cheque to Gully’s Place.  In thanking the club, sponsors, Dudsbury staff and club members Paul surprised everyone by adding a further £3,000 from the Hendy Foundation.to the golf day's £5,000 donation

The total of £8,000 will make a significant difference to the children and families with every penny going to their aid.

Tee Off

The day began at 08:00 with members of the Rotary club and Dudsbury staff preparing for the 72 golfers to make sure that all went well.  As usual Jim Sanders was the “main man” and organised his “troops” brilliantly

Back at the Nineteenth

A par round (for two golfers) would be 72 points so the winner, with 97 points, obviously had a spectacular day.  Win or lose the day was excellent and rounded off with the knowledge that having some fun also raised significant monies for the nominated charity.
